Heather DePee, CMT
I have been a massage therapist since 2001 and have received over 550 hours of training from various massage schools. Among them are Heartwood Institute in Garberville, CA. where I studied Zen Shiatsu; Spirit Winds School of Thai Massage in Grass Valley, CA.; Phillips School of Massage in Nevada City, CA.; and Therapeutic Learning Center in Fresno, CA. As well as building my own practice, I have experience working in Day Spas and a Chiropractic office. Having experienced many other paths before the healing arts, once in this field I realized that this was what I had been looking for all along.
I grew up in the central San Joaquin Valley of California and just didn't see myself living in polluted ag lands and around dairy farms for the rest of my life, so I left the valley at age 18 and moved to Mt. Hood, OR., where the air was cleaner, it didn't get too hot to handle, and there were trees and forests all around--something I'm very fond of. From there I ended up moving to the Santa Cruz mountains, where the redwoods meet the ocean--the best of both worlds. My journeys took me to Hawaii next, where I spent most of my time on a permaculture farm on Maui. Eventually I migrated back home to Cali and I have now been in the Tahoe area since 2003. Loving my life here in Tahoe, I hope to make it my permanent residence. Some of my interests and activities other than the healing arts include hiking, backpacking, snowboarding, live music, yoga, meditation and sustainable living.
